Each month we try to do a Shop Girl Focus entry featuring one of Bella Ink's fabulous retailers. (Check out past interviews here) We've decided to do a special Shop Girl Focus featurette this month regarding the stories behind the unique business names we run into on a daily basis.
Jessie of Careful Peach Boutique: The story behind the CarefulPeach name is a lot simpler than it may seem. It's based on pet names that Karen, the shop owner, and her husband Pete have for each other. Pete calls Karen "Karebear" and Karen calls Pete "Peachman," and thus the names combined and the CarefulPeach was born! (Located in Oak Park, IL)
Susan of Chirps & Cheers: This whole venture has been guided by my passion for paper and doing something that I love. I saw this adorable holiday garland the Christmas before I opened the shop. It was called the chirps and cheers garland. While the garland was darling, it was the name that caught my attention. It made me happy. I couldn't say it without smiling. With our tagline, "Celebrating the everyday chirps & extraordinary cheers," I think it explains perfectly just what we are all about. (Located in Edmond, OK)
Stacy of The Pink Peanut: After I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom for those formative years. My husband and I started thinking of what I could do for a little something extra and still be mommy. Through the pregnancy I had some ups and downs. We were not sure I would be able to carry the babyb to term, so I spent a lot of time in bed. Through those long months my husband started calling my belly "peanut." As the months went on and the baby grew and grew, we found out we were having a girl. After giving birth and adjusting to motherhood, I decided to start The Pink Peanut, named after our first born, Sterling Reese. She was a little peanut from the start and still is today. (Located in Dallas, TX)
Sarah at Vintage Rose Emporium/On A Personal Note: I can't take credit (or blame) for either name! I bought Vintage Rose when it was about 5-years-old, and the previous owner had named the store after an old china patter combined with the name of her favorite store where she grew up, The Emporium. She felt that it evoked a feeling of old world elegance. The story is much the same for On A Personal Note: I bought the store from a lovely woman and incorporated it into Vintage Rose. This name is more obvious, I suppose, as it is a play on words relating to stationery and paper goods that would be used to actually send a "personal note" to someone. Whatever the origins, these names have worked for us as we have been in business for 15 years! (Located in Murray, KY)
Bella Ink Designs: Bella Ink was named after President and Designer Melissa's daughter, Bella. Bella has designed two cards for the company (as a Jr. High School student!), invitation PT-114 and folded note EF-85A. Both are named Bella's Garden and are available through card and gift shops nationwide.
Thanks for participating, ladies! Readers, what's your name and the fabulous story behind it? (Your own or your business name.)
